Dr Amjad Saqib appointed chairman BISP

President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday gave his assent to the appointment of Dr Amjad Saqib because the Chairman of the Benazir Revenue Help Programme (BISP), Radio Pakistan reported.

The appointment was made in accordance with Part 5(3) of the Benazir Revenue Help Programme Act 2010, the President’s Workplace stated.

Founding father of microfinance programme Akhuwat Dr Amjad Saqib was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize final 12 months for his humanitarian work in poverty alleviation. He was among the many 343 candidates from world wide nominated for this prestigious prize.

Earlier this 12 months, Dr Amjad was named ‘International Man of the Decade’ for his extraordinary contributions by International Males Journal.

In August 2021, Dr Amjad Saqib gained The Ramon Magsaysay Award 2021, popularly referred to as the Asian Nobel Prize, for his “first-of-its-kind” interest- and collateral-free microfinance programme that has helped thousands and thousands of poor households.
